The Dermatological Society of New Jersey is pleased to announce that the New Jersey Legislature has unanimously passed both New Jersey Health Care Transparency Act (Truth in Advertising) and Step Therapy Bill. The DSNJ worked with both the AAD and MSNJ to strongly advocate for these bills, and both of these bills are important to all medical professionals and patients in the State of New Jersey.
The Truth in Advertising Bill will prohibit any advertisement from containing information that misrepresents or falsely describes the health care provider’s skills, education, training, or board certification. It will help ensure that patients and the public know the licensure and qualifications of their health care providers.
The Step Therapy Bill is a critical step in helping to ensure patients have access to their prescription medications. Health insurers will be required to expeditiously grant a step therapy override determination request if the prescriber deems it medically inappropriate for the patient to go through step therapy requirement.
